The blank page
The Trimestre Especial at Isthmus in Panama gave twelve students ten weeks and eight modules, with four teachers and two supports who come from different disciplines. Each module could easily have stayed an island of its own. My part was the narrative bridge that tied them into one story, and that story was a museum where each student chose objects worth keeping so we could seal them in a wall for someone to open years from now. In module 03 we looked at objects inside stories, from The Matrix to the Golden Record that Voyager 1 still carries. In the ten day class I named El objeto como mensaje, we rebuilt 2005 to see what 21 years do to things, and 21 years is exactly the distance between this trimester and 2047. The 53 objects ended up in two stainless steel boxes walled in under the rear staircase of edificio 106, and the opening the site counts down to is set for the exact minute Voyager 1 turns seventy.

I put the archive online with holes in it. The photos of the two prototypes presented on September 16 are still missing, and the brass plaque is still pending. That is hard to admit on a site that exists to keep a memory.
The coherence checker is good with things it can count. It caught the 48 that should have been 53 and every slip into voseo, but it could not see that one student declared the same coin twice, or that the syllabus contradicts itself on the dates of a module. Those stayed on the site as declared doubts, because I could not resolve them either.
The countdown promises a date nobody has committed to keeping. The opening is set for September 5, 2047, at 7:56 in the morning, Panama time, but the physical opening is not confirmed, and today I cannot tell you who will be standing at that staircase ready to open the wall.

What this taught me
MUFU taught me to go looking for connections between disciplines, because the ones that mattered most in this trimester were ones you cannot see from inside a single module. The Golden Record came in as a story object in module 03, and it ended up giving the museum its date, since the opening is set for the minute of the seventieth anniversary of Voyager 1's launch. In the ten day class we rebuilt 2005 to measure 21 years, and those are exactly the years between this trimester and 2047. Links like that only appear when the same objects pass through people who look at them from different places. Holding that many points of view in one museum meant none of them could own it, so the site says plainly that no teacher is the principal one, and every object keeps the name of the student who chose it, because that name is the authorship. The date also changed the way I built the site. If the wall opens in 2047, whoever opens it will not be able to ask me what I meant. So each time I found an error, like the 48 that was really 53, I turned it into a rule in the checker so it cannot come back quietly, and I left the doubts I could not settle written on the site, where that person can find them.
